Exams represent a stressful situation that practically everyone had to go through at some point in their lives. Even the most prepared student can’t help but feel nervous at the thought of answering an exam. In fact, it has often been the case that the stress that students go through during the review does not help them perform well. Sadly, some students fall under some catatonic state that they no longer know how to respond to the simplest of questions that they know the right answers for.

This is why it is crucial that students and parents alike know how to deal with the stress that comes with the exam. In the midst of all the deadlines, reports and exam schedules, here are some tips to help you conquer anxiety so as it won’t get the best of you.

· Tip 1: What you Know is your Power

This is not about how much you know about the subject you are studying, but how aware you are that you are under a lot of stress. Acknowledging that the situation is stressful means learning how to get help when you need it. When the realization comes too late, it may be difficult to overcome. That’s why if you are stuck in the middle of the exam not knowing what to do next, it is best just to stop. Take a deep breath and help yourself relax. Panicking won’t be of help.

· Tip 2: Take in more Oxygen

Oxygen is indeed life and the more that you breathe it in, the more relaxed you will be. Did you know that oxygen does not only breathe life into us, but it also keeps the brain active and functional? When anxiety starts to kick in, close your eyes and inhale three times. Hold your breath for a moment and then enjoy the exhalation process. You may repeat this several times until you feel much better.

· Tip 3: Haste will Only Create Waste

There is no need to rush to finish the exam. If you don’t know the answer to a number, then skip it and move on to the next. You will have enough time to go back to it when you have filled in all the rest. Stop keeping track of time. Hasting your way through the exam won’t be helpful too. Not only are you prone to making the wrong choices, but you are putting to waste all the hard work you have put on preparing for it.

Overcoming anxiety and getting yourself out of a stressful situation can be hard, but it is not impossible. With these tips in mind, you don’t have to worry about getting the exam done and passing it with flying colors. You know you will be able to do it.
