Do you love writing? Don’t be afraid to say No. In fact, more than half of the population of students all over the world dislike writing. For some reason, they don’t like writing as much as the other skills that they use in college. It’s no surprise as the paper is in itself hard to do. Some students bemoan writing assignments given in class as if it’s so hard to do they couldn’t do it.

The ability to put together words and weave them into sentences then into paragraphs can be quite exhausting. The task is so daunting that most college students fear it. There is no denying that writing can be hard, not to mention time-consuming, but it doesn’t mean that you have to junk the idea of learning it all together. After all, it is a life skill that will prove helpful in the long run.

As you go through college, the writing tasks that you’ll be asked to do will only grow more and more. Since it is one of the most basic forms of communication, it is something that everyone must learn and try to love. Here are some writing tips that college students like you will see helpful to improve your writing:

Practice Every Day

Like any other skill, writing is something that you can learn and master through practice. Social media platforms have allowed you to practice writing every day. However, these statuses should not be the only form of exercise that you can do. You may try journal writing or maybe even a blog. It doesn’t have to be too long. Writing at least 200 words a day about the things that you love or the things that you complain about is practice in itself. No matter what platform you end up choosing, remember that you are doing it for yourself and that is more than enough to get you going.

Take as Much Time As You Want

But since you are working on a tight deadline, you will have to adjust your writing time as well. When you feel like the project is going to need more time than usual, then write ahead. Give yourself an hour or two to work on it every day. Before you know it, you have completed the writing project and will be able to submit it right on time. Never write against the time for that will only make you suffer more. Take your time to write and allow your brain to rest in between.

Choose Quality Over Quantity – That Always Works

College students often submit long papers because they think it will make up for what they lack in content and substance. But in truth, it does not compensate at all. Always go for quality writing over quantity of pages. If you write a substantial paper with grounding, your instructor will take notice and will appreciate it.

Summer lends itself to you to give you more time to practice writing. Take this opportunity to work on those sentences. You’ll be surprised at how easy writing would be for you when school starts.
